Changes
So Matt gave me a hard time the other day for not updating this site. Well part of the problem is that all ya'll took off and left me without many people to ride with. As a result chinripmtb.com has suffered. As most know this past summer Andrew and Elena moved to Arizona, Matt and Annie moved to Draper, UT (visit Matt's site Claytonstreet for all his updates)), Dave, Mary, Josh and Esther moved to Baltimore and Shawnee and I moved to North Salt Lake. This parting ways however is not the end of the chinrippers, more like a sabbatical.
I on the other hand have continued to ride. I have ridden, with Greg, more road lately than mountain (ya know with the snow and such) but I'm missing the mountains. January or February usually yields a trip to St. George for some winter riding. March or April will bring the annual "Bone Breaker" trip to Moab and yes I am planning on it. Don't think a little pelvis fracture will keep me out of Moab. Matt and Annie made a visit to St. George over Thanksgiving. I'll have Matt get me pictures. By the Way any of you who have pictures or anything to add, feel free to drop me a line and let me know. We all want to know what's happening in all of your cycling lives.

The Summer of '06
So summer in Utah has officially begun and we at Chinripmtb.com have not been taking it lightly. Andrew, Dave and Matt and many more have been training vigorously (in an attempt to outperform me when I get back... not a chance) by doing multiple goup road and mountain rides per week. Speaking of me getting back on the bike, as I'm sure many of you are aware, this morning my six weeks were complete and I went for a 20 mile road ride with John. Felt good to be back in the saddle. Now all the rest of you have a run for your money. I will avoid the mountain for a little bit (at the direction of my Physical Therapist) so look for plenty of opportunities to join me on the road.
The women Chinrippers have also been busy. They have been doing group rides three or so times a week. Anyone wanting to join them, they ride from the 300 court about ten or so miles on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Before we know it, the women will be giving us lessons on riding. Good job ladies!
Well let's enjoy the summer while we can.

PCI Moab Trip and Emergency Room Visit
I'm sure most of you have heard about my latest incident. If not, then you're in for a treat, a real treat. It all began with the annual PCI Moab bike trip from April 20-22. Obviously we went to Moab. We road our usual Bartlett Wash, going in to town. Greg ripped his derailleur off and had to coast out. I'll try to get the video from that from Big RED (Ben). Friday we road Behind the Rocks. I had never ridden said trail, but Greg assured us it was a must. The first 6 miles of the trail, I had to agree with Greg, however the next 15 were HELL!!! Ok maybe not quite that bad. About mile six, I went up a shelf and got my front wheel in a wheel trap and more or less endoed. Instead of going head first, I went left foot first right into a rock. I felt a nice pop in my left hip and some pretty intense pain. The guys behind me came up to check if I was ok. I thought I had dislocated my hip, but I didn't. I took 800 mg of Advil (always carry Advil when you're with me) and got slowly back on my bike and rode most of the 15 miles remaining. The little I didn't ride, I had to walk which hurt worse that riding. To make an already long story shorter, I fractured my acetabulum (pelvis) and have to be on crutches (no weight bearing on my left leg) for six weeks. (See counter above) No surgery is required, thankfully, however I will need physical therapy after, but I get that "in-house" literally. I will be great once I can get back on my bikes and ride with ya'll!
Dave got a nice kick out of my unfortunate situation and decided to mock me by modifying a picture. I actually think it looks pretty good. Thanks Dave.
